How is the Pilates-Method different from other exercise programs?
Each exercise in the Pilates-Method emphasizes the strengthening of the “powerhouse” region – abdomen, lower back, inner/outer thighs, and buttocks.
Pilates focuses not only on strengthening, but lengthening and toning your entire body at the same time without adding bulk to your muscles. Pilates teaches you correct posture by developing and using core strength, so you can move freely and lightly through life.
How soon will I see results and feel a difference?
This is different for everybody, but you will already feel a difference after your 1st session, you will experience heightened body awareness particularly your posture. With consistent practice you will strengthen your core (Powerhouse) and increase your flexibility.
Who can do Pilates?
Pilates is suitable for anyone at any age and any ability or fitness level.
Should I bring anything with me?
Although mats are supplied you might like to bring your own rubber mat.
A small towel or small cushion can be brought for support.
Bodylove offers Pilates classes in Berkhamsted or one to one lessons. Berkhamsted is in easy accessible from Chesham, Hemel Hempstead, Watford and St Albans.
How long does a session last?
The duration of a class is 1 hour.
What should I wear?
Anything comfortable, preferably snug fitting i.e; T-shirt and leggings.
No shoes are worn and socks are optional. There are also some jazzercise flexible “shoes” on the market which are suitable.
